The Lodge is set on the Boro River, in a 105 200 hectare private concession, adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve.
Accommodation is in 5 luxurious suites, all set on elevated platforms in the tree line. Private decks offer expansive views over the permanent water of the Boro River and a neighbouring lagoon. Each suite features a luxurious bedroom, with softly draped fabrics adding a romantic touch. The four-poster beds are fully mobile, giving you the unique choice of sleeping under the stars on the deck, or in your suite. Accommodation is en suite, and equipped with ceiling fan, safe, and min-bar.
The main Camp area features an oversized deck for outdoor dining and allows for excellent views of the lagoon. There is also a swimming pool with 2 thatched Sala’s on either side.
This is a good area for game viewing – and you have the chance to explore on morning and afternoon/ evening game drives. In addition, you have the option of mokoro (traditional dug-out) excursion in the channels of the Delta – not only tranquil, but an excellent way to see some of the birdlife. There are also small motorboats for more extensive water-borne excursions. The water-based activities do depend on the water levels of the Delta. For the more adventurous, there are also guided bush walks – a chance to get closer to nature, and to learn about tracks and signs. A myriad of waterways, feathery beds of papyrus, and animal species, large and small, are waiting to be discovered.
Baines Camp also offers (at additional cost) and fascinating Elephant interaction activity. This includes a leisurely paced walk with a trio of semi-habituated elephants, where you get the chance to become personally acquainted with them, observing and interacting with them. The activity last some 4 hours and is completed with a picnic lunch.
