Camp Moremi can be found on the beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon in the eastern extremity of the Okavango Delta, and within the Moremi Game Reserve. The Reserve is said to be one of the most beautiful in Africa, and Xakanaxa is arguably the highlight.
Camp Moremi has only 11 accommodation units – East-African style tents, each placed on a teak platform, with adjacent bathroom (shower and toilet). The tents also all have a private viewing deck, which overlooks the lagoon. Each tent is furnished with hand-made Rhodesian Teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional directors chairs. To complete the interiors there are also woven rugs, and designer linen, “his” and “hers” robes are also provided, as are tea and coffee making facilities – all of which add to your comfort. However, this is a bush Lodge, and power is provided by generator, allowing for 220 volt (AC) supply in the tents – for hair dryers, or battery chargers. At night 12 volt (DC) lights are used.
Shaded by giant ebony trees the well known Moremi Tree House is an elegant elevated thatch and timber structure comprising main lounge, wildlife reference library, dining room and cocktail bar which is cooled by overhead fans.
Activities include tracking big (and small!) game on morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicle, there is also excellent bird watching, and guests can explore the Xakanaxa Lagoon and surrounding channels of the Okavango by powerboat.
Trained resident naturalist guides share their knowledge and deep love of Botswana's wilderness with you on the game drives, where sightings of wild dog, cheetah, leopard, lion, elephants and buffalo are always a high light.
Please note that children under 12 years of age cannot be accommodated at Camp Moremi.
