The Lodge is set in a leadwood and fig tree forest, overlooking the Khwai River floodplain, and the neighbouring Moremi Game Reserve.
Accommodation is in 14 spacious, en suite, luxury tents, each with a thatched roof, and set on a raised wooden deck, overlooking the Khwai floodplain. Each tent is air-conditioned, and equipped with ceiling fan, mini bar, in-room safe, and private viewing deck, complete with easy chairs and hammock. As the tents are all placed on platforms, they offer excellent views of the area, and a chance to see wildlife from the comfort of your deck.
In addition, the Lodge also offers a Suite, which is also equipped in the same way as the other accommodation, but also boasts a private plunge pool, outside bathroom, with bath, and twin showers. You also have a larger deck area, which can also be used for private dining. For game drives, you have a personal guide, and private vehicle, and game drive times are flexible.
The central lodge area comprises a comfortable lounge, well-stocked bar, and dining room. There is also an observation deck which overlooks the River and a camp fire, with seating area. You can also make use of the large pool, which also overlooks the River.
Game viewing activities, in open vehicles, take place in the early morning, and late afternoon/ evening, when a spot light is used, in order for you to see some of the nocturnally active species. Most drives are conducted in the Moremi Game Reserve itself, but as there are no fences, wildlife is free to wander the area. You might also choose a guided walk along the Khwai River, or a visit to the local village.
Khwai is known for its good game viewing, from plains game to the predators, and you have a good chance of seeing lion, cheetah and leopard. In addition, there are elephant, buffalo, and some exceptional birding.
Guests can also make use of the Gym and Spa facilities at the lodge, where you can indulge in some massages and body wraps, either in the Spa, or the privacy of your tent.
